Two issues of Scientific American magazine. The October 19, 1907 Vol. XCVII No. 16 issue measures 11.25 x 16 inches, and has pictorial paper wrappers with 14 pages (paginated 270-284). Glue-bound; moderate edge wear; interior pages lightly toned but clean; contains numerous black and white photographs and illustrations. The September 1924 issue measures 11 x 13.75 inches, and has color pictorial wrappers with 80 pages (paginated 145-224). Staple-bound; light edge wear, mostly to spine; interior pages clean, unmarked; lot in very good condition overall.

These two issues of Scientific American contain a variety of interesting articles that offer insight into the newest scientific advancements of the era – the 1907 issue has a full-page article titled “Some Preliminary Experiments in Flying” with photographs of the Wright brothers and their various early airplanes, while the 1924 issue details the making of imitation pearls from fish scales. Other notable topics in these issues include the development of the wireless telephone, short-wave radio innovations, the process of making steel, and the turret explosion in the battleship Mississippi, at the time the deadliest peace-time disaster in U.S. Navy history.
