Yank: The Army Weekly was a magazine published by the United States Army during World War II, written by enlisted soldiers and initially only available to U.S. Army soldiers serving overseas. Eventually it was sold to enlisted military within the U.S., but was never made available for purchase by the general public. This issue is full of interesting stories, including an account of a U.S. Army soldier who was held as a German POW for two years; the story of the battle for the liberation of France from Nazi control in July-August 2944; profiles of American farmers growing food to feed the troops; and more. Also includes “Mail Call”, a section where soldiers would write in to the magazine in response to previous issues’ articles; a sports section; and more. Nice piece of wartime history. This issue rare; no copies in OCLC or commerce as of February 2024. Good. Item #1256
