Re-print of the testimony of Frank Stanton, President of the Columbia Broadcasting System before Congress December 9, 1946. From the booklet--"In the fall of 1945, a short time after CBS engineers had turned from war research, ultra-high frequency transmission of brilliantly clear, sharply detailed color images became a reality." Black and white television was broadcast in lower frequencies starting in 1941. Now as technology advanced, broadcasters needed the FCC to approve ultra-high frequency bands in order to broadcast their color signal. The first color broadcasts were in 1950, although households would be required to upgrade their televisions in order to receive the UHF bands. Laid in is a two-page spread demonstrating the difference between a picture transmitted on black-and-white television, and the same picture transmitted by the CBS color television system.

An important and rare document in the development of color television. One copy in Microform at New York Public Library as of November 2022. Very good / None as issued. Item #185
