A large and lovely photograph of the “Old George Inn” in Southwark, London. Written in pencil on the back is “George Inn Southwark 1889,” verso also with stamp for “James Peake, Carver & Gilder, 276 Westminster Bridge Road, opposite St. Thomas’s Hospital.” James Peake was a carver and gilder, frame maker and mount cutter. He was at this address from 1884 to 1910. The Old George Inn is also known as “Shakespeare’s Pub” and is the subject of the book of the same name by Pete Brown. Five men are pictured standing outside. Item #1857
