Bifolium letter measures 6 x 4 inches. One small area of foxing. Very Good Condition.
Informative letter datelined Plattsmouth, Nebraska Territory en route to California. Plattsmouth is situated at the confluence of the Missouri and Platte Rivers, just south of Omaha. The journey began April 9th, 1850, "Grass is quite backward this spring. The waters have all been very high in this western country this spring...Allen's outfit consists of one wagon, five horse and one mule her has one man with him. My brother's outfit is seven mules, one horse one wagon. He has three men besides himself...some are going to Oregon, some to California, some to Washington Territory and some to Pikes Peak...when you receive this write immediately to Sacramento City, Cal...we expect to arrive in Cal. about the 10th of July no preventing accident."
