1845. Map of the Route Pursued by the Late Expedition under the Command of Col. S. W. Kearny, U.S. 1st Dragoons by W. B. Franklin, Lieut. Corps Topl. Engrs. attached to the Expedition 1845, as published in "Report of a Summer Campaign to the Rocky Mountains in the Summer of 1845", Doc. 2 House Report at page 210, 1st Session, 29th Congress. Printed by Ritchie & Heiss.

Map measures 8 3/4 x 14 inches. Previous archival repairs. Map now entirely backed and presents very nicely. Good condition just because of the repairs.

In 1845, Stephen Kearny led an expedition to the Rocky Mountains from Fort Leavenworth to South Pass, south through what is now Colorado to return to Fort Leavenworth via the Arkansas. A well detailed map showing major terrain and drainages, including the Wind River Mountains, Longs Peak and Pikes Peak. It is a precise and well executed and pleasing map. Wagner-Camp item 117.
