Original staple-bound illustrated wrappers. Moderate chipping to spine. Light soiling to front and back wrapper. Interior remains clean. One mis-cut leaf and several poorly trimmed edges. Folding map 19 1/4 x 17 inches. Small separation at one-fold otherwise clean with bright colors. Booklet in good condition; map in very good condition.

Fact filled booklet extolling the virtues of the state of Oregon. Filled with testimonials from various newspapers and periodicals.

Front wrapper with fabulous steel engraving of Portland, Mount Hood and the Willamette River.

Highlight is the beautiful folding map as prepared by G.W. & C.B. Colton of New York and issued by Oregon Railway and Navigation Co. Despite this being an Oregon booklet, the map includes all of Washington, Oregon plus western Idaho, western Montana and a sliver of northern California and Nevada. Hand colored counties plus routes of the Oregon Railway and Navigation Co.

There were numerous variations of this booklet published in the late 1870's and early 1880's all with slight variations. This issue with purple stamps noting it was published out of Oregon Railway and Navigation Company's Chicago office rather than its New York office as printed. Uncommon in commerce. Item #2142
