Collection in good to very good condition. The programs and broadsides are on cheap newsprint paper and are uniformly toned with various amounts of minor chipping to edges. Ticket in fine condition.

Archive includes group of (24) different Sutro Baths Programs all from different days of the summer of 1905. They measure 12 in. x 9 in., all bifold 4-page paper. Also included is one red Sutro Baths admission tickets measuring 1.75 in. x 3.75 in. and one yellow Sutro Baths admission tickets measuring 1.75 in. x 3.75 in. Plus, four broadsides including two variations of the "Mammoth Opening" broadside dated April 18, 1897. Plus, two early color postcards. See scans. Program dates are January 1,8,15,22,29 February 5, 12, 26 March 5, April 2, 9, 16 May 7, June 4, 25 July 23, 30 August 13, 20, 27 and December 3, 17, 24, 31.

Sutro Baths opened to the public with much fanfare on March 14, 1896. The baths were advertised as the world's largest indoor swimming pool establishment. Also on site was a museum featuring two Egyptian Mummies. Sutro Baths had their own 'house band' which played concerts most days. Swimming races were also a daily occurrence.

The baths were built by wealthy businessman and speculator, and former mayor of San Francisco Adolph Sutro. Item #2185
