Instruments of the Orchestra and of Military Bands (with Special Consideration of the Bavarian Ones), How they Sound and are Written
Instruments of the Orchestra and of Military Bands (with Special Consideration of the Bavarian Ones), How they Sound and are Written Along with Brief, Clear Indications of How and Where they Can be Used Effectively, Ferdinand Schlotthauer, Passau, A. Ambrosi, 1843. Broadsheet measures about 45.5 x 37 inches (in 4 detached untrimmed sheets), booklet about 11 x 9 inches, 16pp.
Disbound instruction booklet in poor condition yet appears to be complete. Heavy soiling and edge wear to several sheets, small loss of content. Remaining sheets bright white with mild edge wear.
Large broadsheet print untrimmed and detached with very large margins, in very good condition. Very light toning several horizontal bands across sheets. Light soiling and minor wear to folds. A striking piece.
This German production appears to be a mid-19th century instruction booklet on instrumentation use as noted in the long title, plus the quite attractive musical broadsheet print. I like the amendment "with Special Consideration of the Bavarian Ones". Uncommon.
The more I look at the large musical broadsheet the more it intrigues me as a work of art. Would look stunning to be trimmed and framed as such. Item #2344
