Manuscript collection in manila folder containing 159 typed single-sided 13.5 x 8-inch yellow leaves. Pages 1-21 single spaced, pages 22-159 double spaced. Manuscript corrections throughout. Marked in pencil "original manuscript, first copy" on left corner of first typed page. Very Good condition.
Collected lectures of Edward Frances Garesché (1876-19600 during the time he served at 'The Sons of Mary Health of the Sick' a diocesan congregation which Garesché founded in 1952, in the Archdiocese of Boston. It was established for medical, catechetical, and social work in home and foreign missions. Previously, Father Garesché founded, in 1935, a congregation of mission sisters, the 'Daughters of Mary Health of the Sick' in Cragsmoor, New York.
As best as we can tell this collection of lectures have never been published. Garesché is credited in the New Catholic Encyclopedia with 37 books of prose, 6 books of poetry plus 8 booklets. He also published millions of leaflets during World War II.
The New Catholic Encyclopedia states that Garesché "was a member of one of the old Catholic families of St. Louis, was a graduate of St. Louis University (1896), and received a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis (1898). After practicing law for 2 years, he entered the Society of Jesus at Florissant, Mo., on Sept. 7, 1900, and was ordained on June 27, 1912."
