Real photo postcard measures 5 7/16 x 3 3/8 inches. Face of the card is moderately rubbed and soiled, corners no longer square. Verso shows large swath of glue apparently from mounting. Not used postally. Gelatin Silver print. Fair condition. See scans
Pancho Villa was one of the most prominent figures of the Mexican Revolution. Photograph dated in the negative, January 1, 1914, shows Villa with his wife María Luz Corral with four figures "photo-bombing" the image including a young man.
Walter H. Horne was born in 1883 in Hallowell, Maine. Horne traveled to El Paso in 1909 and stayed because of his ailing health and business ventures. In 1911 Horne started taking and sending postcards of the Southwest to his family members. During the Mexican Revolution he took photographs depicting graphic realities of war.
