Pictorial wrappers with staple-bound magazine. Moderate wear, chipping and soiling. Mild bio-predation to back bottom spine edge. Interior is lightly soiled with the appearance of a thumbed through magazine. One page with manuscript text identifying to people in a photograph. Good condition.

The first volume of a short-lived periodical dedicated to the rebuilding of San Francisco after the April 1906 earthquake. Includes 2 fold-out leaves (one mis-folded along edge) of panoramic photographs. Includes maps, photographs, and illustrations. First full-page photograph is a tinted view titled "Night Scene of Burning City from Mainland".

Best as we can tell, only two issues of "New San Francisco Magazine" were published; this, the Salamander Issue and the July 1906 Resurrection Issue. Unlike the many photo books soon published after the earthquake, this magazine includes a number of longer articles including those from the Governor of California George Pardee, Chief of the U.S. Weather Bureau Alexander McAdie and Dr. David Starr Jordan, President of Stanford University.
