Apparent homemade book with green paper over thin board. Front pastedown has become unglued. Book measures 9 3/16 x 6 inches with 24 unnumbered pages. Light soiling and edgewear; interior clean. Very good condition.

Entirely charming and beautiful student-made book apparently created by a student at the Rhode Island School of Design as noted in manuscript on first endpaper, along with "Roberta Alpern Nov. 2".

The small book is the telling of Part One of the Knight's Tale from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, completed in a fine calligraphic hand with rubricated initials and three decently executed plates.

Likely a student assignment, we have been unsuccessful in definitively tracking Roberta Alpern. Possibly dates to the 30's or 40's. Regardless, a wonderful example of a finely executed homemade book. Item #2611
