String-bound (and staple punched, but no staples) green wrappers with golden botanical printed design. Withdrawn from Bancroft Library. Paste-down label on front with title month and year. Tipped in bookplate as frontis. Light soiling. Likely disbound from sammelbound collection. Library markings on page 3. Good condition.
The Book-plate Booklet is the official organ of the California Book-plate Society; a quarterly magazine devoted to book-plates in general, and to California book-plates in particular. Published at the sign of the Berkeley Oak by Sheldon Cheney.
Led article discusses the Public Library Book-plate and includes a tipped in plate from the Public Library of the District of Columbia with three additional printed examples of nicer public library plates.
We are unsure how many issues were published by the California Book Plate Society (one reference states V.1-4; Nov. 1906-Dec. 1911) but it appears that Sheldon Cheney revived the "Book-plate Booklet" in 1917 under the auspices of the American Bookplate Society in Kansas City.
Regardless, this is an uncommon periodical devoted to bookplate design and collecting. Wrappers printed by Ricardo J. Orozco of San Francisco. Item #2621
