Thanksgiving November Thirtieth Nineteen Hundred Eleven

Oakland, California: 1911. Thanksgiving November Thirtieth Nineteen Hundred Eleven--Cover Title: Olden Time Call for Thanksgiving, no publisher noted, printed by Oakland Enquirer Pub. Co., 1911. 7 3/4 x 6 1/2 inches, 32pp.

Blue string-tied and staple bound printed wrappers. Edges of wrappers yap style and lightly bumped. Wrappers protected by glassine jacket which is torn (about 2 inch-tear) in middle front with chips to edges. Decorative Thanksgiving Art on back wrapper. Text block on a heavy pulp paper with deckle fore edge. Light toning to edges. Clean interior. Jacket in fair condition due to tearing; booklet in very good condition.

Privately printed and published Thanksgiving Day Programme apparently published on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Cutting of Lakeside Terrace, Oakland. The 'programme' includes a re-print of President Taft's Thanksgiving Day Proclamation, Distribution of Souvenirs, Harvest Hymn and Prayer, a reading of The First Thanksgiving followed by another hymn, and a word of thanks. The program wrapped up with the Thanksgiving Song "Vive la Companie" plus "Auld Lang Syne".

A rather elaborate and expensive Thanksgiving Day booklet for which we can find no record. Clues are plentiful with the surname of Cutting along with their address on Lakeside Terrace in Oakland, yet we've been unsuccessful in finding any record. Ripe for research for this early 20th century California fine press item. Item #2637
