New-York Baptist Register Vol. III No. 33, November 24, 1826

Utica, New York: New-York Baptist Register, 1826. New-York Baptist Register Vol. III No. 33, November 24, 1826

4-page newspaper measures 20 x 13 1/4 inches. Moisture tide-line present. Light toning and soiling. Good condition.

Interesting snapshot into the world of Baptists of New York in the 27th year of the 19th century. Long articles present updates on the Baptist Education Society, a report on theological seminaries previously published in the New York Religious Chronicle, plus most of the last page is devoted to a letter from the Genesee Baptist Association.

Shorter dispatches are perhaps more intriguing including: "Asaad the Arab Convert", a first-person report on a Papal Benediction and a report on "Jews in China".

Three pieces related to slavery are found including a report on an "Anti-Slavery Convention", a short note that Mexico has emancipated all slaves held in Texas and a longer article on blacks colonizing Liberia from the Unites States.

One sentence notes that DeWitt Clinton was re-elected Governor of New York.

No mention of Mormons or Mormonism were found. Item #2715
