One of a series of Edwin Markham [1852-1940] poems printed in broadside format. He is perhaps best known for his poem, "The Man with the Hoe" and served as the Poet Laureate of Oregon from 1923 to 1931.

Read by the author at the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC, 1922. Chosen out of 300 Lincolnesque poems for this event.
