Remarkable archive from the American LaFrance Fire Engine Company, Elmire, New York of their output of fire engines post World War One. Engines are photographed in front of factory and likely document each engine off the assembly line. Each engine includes the municipality painted on engine housing (most are legible) and represents towns throughout the United States. The American La France Company was formed in 1903 after the merger of the International Fire Engine Company and the LaFrance Manufacturing Company. A variety of engines are represented here including the Type 12, 20, 38, 40, 48, and 75. A few photos show the large American LaFrance Aerial Ladder Truck. A few towns represented include: Los Angeles, Ventura, Williamsport, Springdale, Ashville, Las Vegas Walla Walla, South End, Duluth, Redding, Union, N.J., Syracuse, Madera, Roseville, Sanger, Mountain View, Ukiah, Williamsport, Milford, Delaware, Long Branch, Springdale, Porterville, Ashville, N.C., Chester, Park Ridge, N.J., Batesville, Norton, Pawling, PA, Riverton, N.J., Woodland, Greenwood Lake, Keystone and my old hometown of Whittier, California. Many did not include a state abbreviation, and some were impossible to read.

A great collection for the fire enthusiast and historian. Item #33
