Both watercolors on thick cream stock. Previously framed with both showing acid-burning but not unpleasantly so. Light foxing and soiling. Verso blank on both. Manuscript pencil notation lower left corner. Good Condition.

Sir John Gilbert (1817-1897) did the woodcut illustrations for the Howard Staunton edition of "The Plays of Shakespear, published in 1860 and was known as a prolific watercolorist. He was made a member of the Royal Academy in 1876. Item #403
