To Build A Fire

Youth's Companion Memorial Day Number 1902 May 29. To Build A Fire, Jack London, Youth's Companion May 29, 1902, Perry Mason Company, Boston, Massachusetts. 20pp. 11 3/8 x 16 1/2 inches.

Pictorial staple bound wrappers which are becoming detached (still holding at the staples). Previous horizontal fold at middle. Two 1/2 inch tears at bottom and fore edge which go through all leaves. Partial inked address right front margin. Interior is lightly toned but clean. Good Condition.

Well known Jack London short story with an interesting publishing history. First published in 1902 in this issue of Youth's Companion, the story was re-written and republished in 1908. The 1908 version, a much more tragic and brutal story has often been anthologized while this earlier version is little known, and somewhat scarce.

This issue also contains a Kate Chopin story, The Wood-Choppers, plus some wonderful period ads. Good Condition / None. Item #441

Price: $175.00
