Bert Holldobler (b. 1936) is a German zoologist and evolutionary biologist who studies myrmecology, particularly the behavioral ecology and social organization in ants. Edward O. Wilson (1929-2021) was an American biologist, entomologist, and naturalist known for developing the controversial field of sociobiology, a field that posits that animal and human social behavior is biologically determined.
