Black pebbled booklet measures a touch over 3 x 5 inches with red and white labeled laid on front. Crease to front wrapper. Booklet has white blue-lined paper. First 13 pages are used as an daily account ledger; 13 pages at back include itemized payments to specific accounts. Manuscript in purple ink. Includes notes inside front wrapper and first endpaper. Very Good Condition.

Zane Grey's 1930 expense book with entries for trips to Pape'ete, French Polynesia and Oregon, plus everyday expenses when at home in Alta Dena, California. Itemized accounting of expenses, in Grey's distinctive purple. Includes lodging, transportation, wages paid to local workers, supplies, etc. Also includes accounting of wages paid to members of his group. Additional pages at back itemize payments made to specific people including Zane's son Romer Zane Grey.

For Grey, and the country, 1930 was the first full year of the Great Depression and a rapid decline to the publishing industry. Still, Zane Grey made an overseas trip to the city of Pape'ete and the French Polynesia. A later trip to Oregon also took place.
